Aspire Program

Southside Aspire Program

In partnership with the Lake Effect Figure Skating Club and Southside Skating School, our Aspire program offers skaters an affordable and comprehensive figure skating curriculum in a safe and supportive group training environment.

With certified coaches - we are the ONLY US Figure Skating Aspire program in the Grand Rapids area

Aspire programs bridge the gap for skaters as they grow to being more competitive in their skating and taking their skills to the next level beyond the LTS Basic Skills curriculum.

 

THE ASPIRE PROGRAM IS FOR SKATERS WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE BASIC SKILLS CURRICULUM AND ARE WORKING ON:

  • LTSUSA FREESKATE LEVELS

  • COMPETING OR TESTING ANY SINGLE JUMP LEVELS

Fall Session 1

Format

Tuesday

5:35-6:35pm - Off-Ice training (strength and balance) - except for  Dec 20

SATURDAY

9:50-10:20am - Off-Ice Practice (jumps and spins)

10:30-11:20am - On-Ice Group Instruction

Registration and Pricing

Cost: $308 for a 14 week session + Plus a one time $18 Learn to Skate USA Membership

  • ​​​​​This membership fee covers all class sessions from June 2022 - July 2023 (Only paid at first registration of the season for your skater). We are a registered program with LTS USA with registered coaches who are trained and have background checks.  You will be registered as a member which includes additional insurance for your skater

Homeschool Partnerships: For families registered with the Niles and Hamilton homeschool programs - we are excited to be able to offer you our skating school classes as your homeschooling elective.  To do so, please enter either "HamiltonFSA22-23" or "NilesFSA22-23" at checkout. 

What to Wear

On-Ice Dress Information:

  • Please dress warmly with gloves and layers. 
  • Comfortable and stretchy athletic wear is required. Please avoid jeans or baggy clothing.
  • Skaters should have their own figure skates

Off-Ice Dress Information:

  • Skaters may bring a water bottle
  • Hair in a ponytail
  • Supportive athletic shoes

On-Ice Curriculum

The Aspire program is for skaters who have completed the Basic skills curriculum and are working on:

  • LTSUSA Freeskate levels

  • Competing or testing any single jump levels
